Two of the critical economic policy questions facing us today are establishing a workable energy policy that recognizes the need to develop both traditional and renewable resources designed to ensure our security and build jobs.

The second and related policy is infrastructure not only in the energy sector but also in the area of transportation.  As a nation we cannot continue to neglecct our aging energy and vast transportation infrastructures.  This will require extensive investment in developing new infrastructure projects and upgrading existing grids, highways, rail and waterways.

More importantly we must realize that this will require a great deal of cooperation between the public and private sectors.  The outcome of abandoning our traditional approaches to energy and infrastructure will lead to economic growth and security. 

In addition, the technologies developed and deployed can expand to benefit emerging and developing economies.
